Tunes of Glory

Until now the titles of my blog posts have been inspired by song titles or named for dates, but tonight I was reminded of a film title – Tunes of Glory was an amazing film starring Alex Guinness and John Mills and was shot in and around Stirling Castle – about a power struggle and culture clash in a Highland regiment immediately after WW2. Tonight I attended a reception to celebrate Glasgow’s successful Commonwealth Games bid in the Great Hall in Stirling Castle – an amazing venue that presented an interesting challenge for the female guests after it was over – a new event in the athletic calendar – the 500 metre stumble over cobblestones in the dark in high heels after two (or three) glasses of champagne…Seven years to ensure the Games deliver for Glasgow, and give something back to the Commonwealth…
