Partick, Politics and Passions

Here comes the rain again..

You would think that at the very least a by-election in July would mean good campaigning weather ..if anyone’s ever struggled with a clipboard and an umbrella, you know what I mean. The choices are, go without a brolly and present a bedraggled appearance on the doorstep, or juggle your paraphenalia ..OR, find some multis and tenements. Actually it wasn’t too bad this afternoon, it was only in the evening the heavens opened. All the media focus was of course on the candidates and the national implications of the result in Glasgow East. Were those the issues on the doorsteps ? Er, well, not exactly – worries about parking problems around the Tollcross Leisure Centre during the Commonwealth Games, the neighbours dogs (and what were we going to do about them ?), and why the belt should never have been banned in schools… looking at the 15 day weather forecast, the one prediction I’ll make for this campaign is that none of us are going to get sunburnt. Except those of us that have a pre-booked holiday and will be returning for the final week of the campaign. My grief is controllable…
